PRINDIVILLE HALL - NOTRE DAME UNIVERSITY
Sunday 11th November: 10am - 2pm
Mouat Street, Fremantle, 6160
The new Student Hub at Notre Dame cleverly engages its students with the city whilst maintaining the heritage fabric of a handsome but unassuming 1950’s building.
Rather than the enclosed, voluminous hall that had previously served the students, the new space addresses the need to provide places for study “anywhere, anytime” and reinforces the University’s holistic approach to student-centred learning.
This project tells the story of the building’s history through a series of playful, industrial-like insertions. which create adaptable zones and contrast to the gritty textures of the existing building.
A contemporary layer has been added within rich heritage fabric; edges are blurred between the interior and exterior; finally, the building opens to the street.
