89 - ANZAC Cottage
OPENING HOURS: Saturday 11th November 10am-5pm
Sunday 12th November 10am-5pm
ADDRESS: 38 Kalgoorlie Street, Mount Hawthorn
ANZAC Cottage was built in one day on February 12, 1916 by the community of Mount Hawthorn as a home for a returned wounded soldier and his family and as a memorial for those who lost their lives in the tragic Gallipoli landing.
The building was initiated by the Mount Hawthorn Progress Association and was supported eagerly by the community, with donations ensuring the cottage would be a suitable and enduring memorial for the Gallipoli veterans.
As part of Open House Perth the Friends of ANZAC Cottage invite you to visit this iconic monument to the efforts of our ANZACs and the community of Mount Hawthorn. On Saturday, 11th November at 10:45am there will be a Remembrance Day ceremony and all are invited to view and add to our Field of Remembrance.
On both Saturday and Sunday there will be a poppy making activity for children and talks about ANZAC Cottage in World War II at 1:30pm and 3:30pm.
Morning and afternoon tea available at the Cottage for a gold coin donation.
