HISTORIC HEART STADIUM WALK
Perth’s Historic Heart is the link between our city and the new Matagarup Bridge and Optus Stadium.
Enjoy the walk from Yagan Square to the stadium and take time to explore the history, architecture and art of the Historic Heart neighbourhood along the way.
The Historic Heart is home to one of Perth’s greatest collections of heritage buildings, together forming important streetscapes of late 19th and early 20th century architecture.
The collection of buildings includes Government House, the Perth Town Hall, the State Buildings, St George’s Cathedral, St Mary’s Cathedral, Fire Brigade No. 1 Station and the remains of Jewell’s Colonial Hospital.
There is diverse range of public art to enjoy in the Historic Heart – from Marcus Canning’s striking Ascalon at Cathedral Square to the beautiful large scale mural by Rone at Hibernian Place, and Historic Heart’s planter box art project along the way featuring some of WA’s best artists.
The Historic Heart is also home a wide range of cafes, restaurants and bars, and is emerging as a creative hub with a growing number of galleries and Perth creatives.
