The District Court of WA sits on the site previously home to St George’s Hall theatre (1870). The building was taken over by the state Government in the early 20th century and was used as a lithographic printing office and later as administration offices.
Construction of the courts (opened June 3rd 2008) saw the integration of the original, heritage listed portico of St George’s Hall, in to the façade of the purpose built building, which hosts 24 courtrooms, 5 hearing rooms, state of the art security facilities as well as an on-site café and open air terrace. An important part of WA’s civic infrastructure this Open House Perth weekend we encourage you to get behind the scenes on the right side of the law.
