OPENING TIMES: Saturday 11th November 10am-4pm
Sunday 12th November 12pm-4pm
ADDRESS: 573 Hay Street, Perth
The City of Perth Library, designed by Kerry Hill Architects, sits at the heart of Perth's redeveloped Cathedral Square precinct. The Library is a brand new, vibrant, community hub with a distinctive cylindrical form and is a highlight on the OHP 2016 destination list.
The Library is the first major civic building built by the City of Perth for over 40 years, with a distinctive diagonal truncation that allows winter sun to enter the plaza area. Its 3,500 square metres of floor area features a triple-storey reading room, defined collection spaces, AV/multi function meeting rooms, a green wall, a double-height winter garden for the children’s area and a generous terrace with stunning views.
Public libraries are changing the way they operate, reinventing spaces and services to reflect changing demographics, public perceptions and usage. So how did the architects of the City of Perth Library respond to these dynamic challenges to create a new library that has been embraced by the people of Perth? Kerry Hill Architects will present two talks to explain their approach to the project.
